The Oakland Museum of California presents

The Latino History Project

In this moving documentary about a project organized through the Oakland Museum of California, latino students in Oakland, California, research the history of their city,
bringing long forgotten stories - and community pride - back to life.

This is an inspiring story that shows the value of collecting community history
and the importance of involving youth in the process.

Maria Friely and Maritza Ortiz talk about how their involvement
in the Latino History Project has affected their lives.

Oakland High School students visit the Latino History Project
exhibit to study past and present issues facing latinos
.

West Oakland was a predominantly Latino community until the construction of a new freeway forced many people to move.
